Being named to the Deans’ List is one of the highest academic honours offered by the university and is a tradition that dates back 45 years at STU.
“In 1977, there were 37 Deans’ List scholars, representing 5.5% of the full-time student population, which was 742 at the time,” said Dr. André Loiselle, Dean of Humanities. “As a group, the 2020-2021 Deans’ List students now represent nearly 20% of our full-time students.”
“We want to extend our sincere congratulations to our students for this achievement. Being a Deans’ List student is a major accomplishment that represents significant work and commitment to academics,” added Dr. Susan Machum, Dean of Social Sciences.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual Deans’ List Dinner cannot take place and so certificates and a letter from the President and Vice-Chancellor recognizing this achievement have been mailed to each member of the Deans’ List.
“Making the Deans’ List signifies not only the knowledge that each student has acquired but the discipline it took to acquire it. Our Deans’ List students have embraced new ideas, practiced critical thinking, and demonstrated capacity for hard work—all in the midst of the added stresses of a pandemic,” said Russell.
“On behalf of your professors and the whole STU community, our heartfelt congratulations. Please keep up your great work!”
