Biography

Sara Carder was born in the UK and emigrated to Canada in 2024 with her partner and cocker spaniel Dudley after securing a full-time faculty position in the school of social work at STU. Prior to this, she worked in local government child and family social work for nearly 20 years. Her practice has included child protection, children in foster care, residential homes, adoption and children and young adults with disabilities. Sara has a keen interest in organizational development, leadership and workforce wellbeing which has shaped her ongoing research interests in retention and professional identity. Sara continues to practice as a registered social worker and art psychotherapist here in New Brunswick, providing individual and family based therapeutic services to children and youth within the child welfare system.
