Biography

Professor Furlotte (he/him/his) completed his Bachelor of Arts (Honours Psychology) from Mount Allison University in 2006, and Master of Social Work (MSW) at Carleton University in 2009. He is a registered social worker (RSW) in Ontario (since 2009) and New Brunswick (since 2018). He is also a Ph.D. candidate in Social Work at McMaster University. He has over a decade of clinical experience as a social worker in health care practice.

Professor Furlotte joined the Faculty at St. Thomas University in 2019. He previously taught undergraduate and graduate courses at Carleton’s School of Social Work, and McMaster University’s Department of Health, Aging and Society. He was a graduate teaching assistant in the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program at McMaster’s School of Social Work. He served as a Social Worker with a focused practice in mental health and psychotherapy and Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct) at McMaster’s Department of Family Medicine. His areas of practice expertise include clinical social work practice, and health care practice, counselling and psychotherapy with specialized communities, and mindfulness-based interventions. He is originally from Bathurst, New Brunswick.
