At St. Thomas University, we are committed to recognizing academic excellence, leadership, and community engagement while also supporting students with demonstrated financial need. Our entrance awards program includes:
- Entrance Scholarships – based on academic achievement and overall student involvement
- Application-based Entrance Awards – recognizing students who balance academics with extracurricular, volunteer, or community achievements
- Bursaries – for students with demonstrated financial need
St. Thomas University Scholarship (Renewable)
If you have an admissions average of 80% or higher, you will automatically be considered for the St. Thomas University Scholarship (Renewable) when you apply for admission.
- Valued at up to $20,000
- Renewable for up to four years
- Consideration given to academic achievement, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and community contributions
To receive a scholarship assessment, you must apply for admission.
Application-based Entrance Awards
St. Thomas offers a wide range of application-based entrance awards valued between $500 and $100,000 over four years. By submitting one scholarship application, you will be considered for the majority of scholarships available.
Unless otherwise specified, entrance awards are open to candidates for full-time admission to the first year of the Bachelor of Arts program applying on the basis of their high school records. International applicants with the equivalent of an 80% average or higher are also eligible.
Selection Criteria
The Entrance Scholarship Selection Committee primarily reviews your academic record, including:
- Admission average
- Grade 12 courses and levels (and Grade 11 performance where relevant)
In addition to academics, the Committee may also consider leadership, extracurricular involvement, geographical location, and community engagement depending on each scholarship’s criteria.
Entrance Bursaries
Bursaries are need-based awards funded by the St. Thomas University community to support incoming students with limited financial resources.
- Bursaries are open to candidates for full-time admission to the Bachelor of Arts program, whether applying from high school or as adult learners.
- Valued between $500 and $3,000 (one-time)
- Consideration given to academic achievement, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and community contributions
Selection Criteria
The Entrance Bursary Selection Committee considers:
- The capacity of your family to contribute financially
- Your employment situation
- Any special needs or requirements
How to Apply for Scholarships and Bursaries
By submitting one application, you will be considered for the majority of scholarships and bursaries available.
- Application Deadline: March 1
- Where to Apply: Log in to your Applicant Portal and look under the “Next Steps” tab to access the Scholarship and Bursary Application.
- Eligibility: Students who have received an offer of admission and submitted their most up-to-date transcripts are eligible to apply.
