The entire STU community is invited and encouraged to take in all the events and opportunities that will take place during International Education Week at STU!  

 

Meet international students, find out more about international opportunities, learn about and experience new cultures, and more.  

 

Events have been organized by STU’s International Office, International Students’ Association, Students’ Union, and Office of Experiential Learning and Career Development.

Monday, November 17

Global Arts Expressions

10:00 AM - 4:00 PM | JDH Cafeteria

 

For International Education Week, we’re inviting students to showcase the beauty and diversity of their cultures through art and crafts! This exhibition will feature handmade items, traditional crafts, and creative pieces that reflect your cultural background, heritage, or personal artistic expression. All items will be displayed in The JDH Cafeteria on Monday, November 17, from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM! Nothing will be for sale, as this is a showcase to appreciate and learn from each other’s artistry and traditions. Learn more or sign up to display your artwork here.

 

Tuesday, November 18

Wall of Flags Ceremony

The Wall of Flags Ceremony celebrates the current countries represented by our international students. Each flag symbolizes the unique cultures and traditions that enrich our university community. This year, we celebrate 157 international students who come from 38 countries around the world.

 

Join us for an inspiring afternoon of speeches, performances, and cultural connections and to celebrate the cultural diversity that makes STU a vibrant place to learn.

This welcoming evening for international and local students alike will feature music, spoken word, and performances that celebrate the richness of our diverse community. Come sip, connect, and enjoy a warm, relaxed atmosphere where every voice adds a new flavour to the mix. Everyone is welcome!

 

Wednesday, November 19

Financial Literacy Session

2:00 PM | GMH 204

 

The workshop is led by Experiential Learning and Career Development and will equip you with the essential skills to manage your money with confidence. Learn how to budget effectively, understand various bank accounts, learn the importance of investing, and gain strategies in how to start building healthy financial habits.

 

International Food Fest

6:00 PM | JDH Cafeteria

 

Get ready to taste the world at the STUISA Food Fest! This exciting event brings together delicious dishes and authentic flavours from the countries our international students call home. From savoury bites to sweet treats, every plate tells a story, and every taste is a journey. Come hungry, bring your friends, and experience the rich diversity of cultures that make our STU community so vibrant. A portion of the proceeds will go towards the STUISA International Student Bursary Fund.

 

Thursday, November 20

STU Experiential Learning & Volunteering Info Session

2:30 PM | GMH 204

 

Join the ELCD team to learn about the importance of gaining knowledge and skills through the experiences you participate in. We will also discuss the benefits of volunteering on both a local and global scale. Valuable resources and strategies for finding and making the most of these experiences will be shared.

Culinary Adventure Series: the Caribbean

Join us on a Culinary Journey and explore the different flavours of the Caribbean! The Culinary Adventures Series features recipes submitted by international STUdents that Chef Michael Greer and his team bring to life at each monthly event.
