Recognizing Academic Excellence: 394 STUdents Named to Deans’ List for 2019-2020

394 students at St. Thomas University have been named to the Deans’ List for 2019-2020.

To qualify for the distinction, students must achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.7 while meeting the demands of a full course load.

“As members of our Deans’ List, students should take great pride in their achievement,” said President and Vice-Chancellor Dawn Russell. “They did the readings, wrote the essays, asked the questions, spoke in class, devoted many hours to study, and pushed themselves to improve.”

Being named to the Deans’ List is one of the highest academic honours offered by the university and is a tradition that dates back to 1977.

“In that year, there were 37 Deans’ List scholars, representing 5.5% of the full-time student population, which was 742 at the time,” said Dr. André Loiselle, Dean of Humanities.  “As a group, the 2019-2020 Deans’ List students represent 19.6% of our full-time students.”

“Being named to the Deans’ List is a major accomplishment that represents significant work and commitment to academics,” added Susan Machum, Dean of Social Sciences. “We want to extend our sincere congratulations to our students for this achievement.”

Students on the Deans’ List are usually recognized at the annual Deans’ List dinner. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the certificates recognizing this achievement have been mailed.
