STU Public Lecture Series: “Joyful Actors: Aging Futures and the Potential of Intergenerational Theatre”

7:00 PM
BMH 101
In this talk, Dr. Kristi Allain (St. Thomas University) and Dr. Stephanie Dotto (Mount Allison University) will examine an intergenerational theatre performance that they facilitated in the winter of 2023.
This performance brought together older (aged 60 and up) and younger (aged 18–25) adults to explore the ways that intergenerational theatre produces intergenerational joy: a collective, interdependent experience that envisions more promising aging futures. The play offered a structure through which actors could challenge societal norms isolating generations from each other and encouraged intergenerational connections.
