Felomena Deogratsias “Breaking the Stereotypes: A Series of Conversations”

Please join Felomena Deogratsias, first-generation Rwandese Canadian, current STUdent, and member of Black Lives Matter Fredericton Chapter, for part one of “Breaking the Stereotypes: A series of Conversations.”

This event will take place Thursday, February 11 at 2:00 pm on Zoom. The talk has been organized in recognition of Black History Month by the St. Thomas University Black Students Association.

Breaking the stereotypes is a series of talks focused on eliminating the stereotypes of black people with a focus on black women and the many struggles they face in a prejudiced society.

Felomena Deogratsias is passionate about spreading awareness to address and eliminate anti-Black racism in Canada. Her personal experiences have led her to engage in advocacy work within her community through the Black Lives Matter Fredericton Chapter. She was a panelist for “Couch, Coffee and Convos: Black Women Taking Up Space” at UNB and was a presenter at the STU Student Research and Ideas Fair, screening her Cellphilm, "Black Self-White World: Documenting Racism Through a Young Black Woman’s Story.”

Part two of this series, while still being finalized, will focus on responsible allyship and will take place later in the month. More details to come.
