"Aside from my thesis on mass deportation policies as an indirect and direct result of human rights violations of deportation procedures in the United States, and undocumented immigrants protections under the Constitution, my internship with No One Is Illegal-Fredericton (NOII) helped me further understand the human rights issues of immigrants at a municipal level—and how small organizations such as NOII advocate for the rights of other through their work. At STU, I learned valuable networking, communication, and advocacy campaigning skills that will help me in law school and future aspirations."

Aaron will continue their work with Dr. Çalışkan's "Promise of Home" project throughout the summer, collecting stories from intergenerational immigrant communities in Fredericton. Aaron and Dr. Çalışkan will also work towards publishing a manuscript about the Black Lives Matter movement.
Aaron will also work with Dr. Fredericks on her project, "We Have Survived Before: An Intergenerational, Youth-Led Mental Health Intervention for LGBTQ+ Youth," where the research team will work to build connections between queer youth and queer elders who have survived the AIDS epidemic. Aaron will help facilitate workshops and coordinate with the youth research team over the summer. Aaron also volunteers at AIDS NB and is creating a queer, trans, fat support group for folks across NB.
