Woody Brown: Letter to a Future STUdent

Woody BrownDEAR FUTURE STUDENT,

My name is Woody Brown and I’m originally from Stettler, Alberta. I completed my Bachelor of Arts at St. Thomas University with a double major in Economics and Political Science in 2016.

I’m now settled in Toronto where I work with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, tackling complex policy issues surrounding asylum claimants and how the government can better serve this population.

My experience at St. Thomas University and my Bachelor of Arts degree have served me well in life.

At STU, I had the opportunity to:

  • make life-long friendships
  • prepare for a meaningful career
  • develop research skills
  • learn to communicate clearly and concisely
  • participate in an international exchange

One of the things I enjoyed most about my time at STU was the small class sizes. My favourite was the Model United Nations course, where we travelled to Boston to participate in the Harvard Model UN competition.

Without a doubt it is the critical thinking skills you develop and the opportunities to get involved that makes St. Thomas so special.

I hope you’ll consider St. Thomas for your post-secondary studies — it is a tight-knit community full of opportunities.

Wishing you the best of luck,

Woody Brown
