Andrea Escober: Letter to a Future STUdent

Andrea EscoberDEAR FUTURE STUDENT,

My name is Andrea Escober, and I am a proud alumna of St. Thomas University, Class of 2023.

 

At STU, I studied Political Science, which allowed me to explore my passions for policy analysis, sustainable development, and innovation.

 

My degree not only deepened my knowledge, but also provided experiences that shaped my career and personal growth.

 

As an international student from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, leaving home for a new country and culture was a significant decision. What stood out to me about STU was:

 

  1. small class sizes
  2. vibrant international community
  3. liberal arts focus

I knew this combination would prepare me for the diverse challenges of the future.

 

One of the highlights of my time at STU was the experiential learning opportunities. I completed two internships, which gave me a profound understanding of how policy shapes industries and impacts regional economic development.

 

  • I worked with a renewable energy company, researching grants and sustainable development initiatives.
  • I worked as a student strategist at Opportunities New Brunswick, focusing on local government reform, intellectual property, and biomass research.

Today, I work as a Business Development Officer at Ignite, assisting businesses at every stage, helping them grow and succeed.

 

STU cultivates critical thinkers and problem solvers, encouraging students to take risks, explore new ideas, and build meaningful relationships. I am incredibly grateful to this supportive community for helping me grow and pursue my passions.
