Facilities Management

Facilities Management reports to the Vice President (Finance and Administration) and its primary responsibilities include providing strategic direction and leadership for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the university’s physical facilities. The Department oversees the delivery of related services (internal or contracted), including grounds maintenance, parking, mail services, custodial services, and purchasing.

STU Safe

In the event of a crisis or campus closure affecting UNB or STU, Campus Security will notify you through a new mass notification system called STU Safe.

Please click to the STU Safe Portal to update your information and contact preferences by using your STU login and password. The information you provide will not be used for any other purpose other than a safety alert, crisis, campus closure or system test.

Parking

Along with UNB and NBCC, STU is updating our parking on campus by using a HotSpot Parking Portal. This change will take effect in September and will provide the STU community and visitors with a more convenient and streamlined approach to on-campus parking. Long-term parking permits for students, faculty, and staff can be purchased through the HotSpot portal

Please note: when logging into the portal, use your STU.ca email and password. The portal will prompt you to select a municipality. Select "STU" from the drop down menu.

Parking Permits

  • The parking permits are virtual and based on the vehicle licence plate.

  • All vehicles parked on campus must have a valid digital parking permit or session.

  • Please purchase parking permits for the upcoming school year (2024-25) through the HotSpot portal.

  • When logging into the portal, use your STU.ca email and password. The portal will prompt you to select a municipality. Select "STU" from the drop down menu.

  • The faculty and staff payroll deduction option (for the duration of the parking pass) will continue and registration will take place through the HotSpot portal.

  • See the UNB Security website for instructions, parking regulations, updated rates, maps and FAQs.

  • At STU, we will begin enforcing parking regulations in mid-September.

Hourly/Daily Parking

  • In the future, faculty, staff and students can use the HotSpot mobile app for hourly or daily parking.

  • We will send updates once the mobile app access becomes available.

  • Visitors can park in designated short-term parking spaces (one hour max) or general parking lots by paying by the hour up to a day, also administered through HotSpot.

For questions, please refer to parking@unb.ca, monitored Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.  For urgent or after-hours matters, please call UNB Campus Security at (506) 453-4830.

Dorm Burn Video
The Fredericton Fire Department, University of New Brunswick, St. Thomas University and the New Brunswick Community College joined forces for a very important fire safety educational activity. Fire is a serious concern for the campus community, as well as the greater Fredericton Community, and homes are where citizens and students are most vulnerable. In fact, more than 80 percent of all fire deaths occur at home. To help students and residents understand how dangerous home fires are and to inform them of the steps they can take to stay safer, this dramatic side-by-side fire and sprinkler burn demonstration took place at the Fredericton Campus of the University of New Brunswick.
